“March 19th 2010, I decided it was time for change. I relocated my life to the United States from Holland (The Netherlands) -leaving a past where I was sexually abused as a child, and the wild life I was living full of bad decisions and drug abuse – to embark on a new journey in my life.
After living in New Orleans, Louisiana for a few years, the idea of BT4S began.
I found myself alone, mourning the loss of my newborn son after he passed away, only living 65 short days. Being alone in a new country left me with only the company of my thoughts.
At that time, my mind was not in a place where I felt safe, but I discovered the only way to overcome this time of my life was to be positive, to hold on to the things I did have to be thankful for.
I would keep a coin in my pocket every day to help remind myself to stay positive. Throughout the day, each time I felt or remembered it’s presence I would take a second and really think about something I had to be thankful for.
Over the years I have come to realize how powerful this simple act of positive thinking really was and how drastically this had changed my life.
I wanted to use the power of positive thinking to help change people’s lives all over the world, like it has changed my life.
I am thankful for all that I have and all that I have learned on my journey in life thus far. I am grateful for the little things in each day.”
